JQ: Rise of Abyss Lord Comic Book
Personal project | Original Comic Book Series, Issue #2
The Brief
Issue #2 of an original superhero comic series, written, illustrated, and produced solo each year - this issue pits the hero against Krallax, Ruler of the Abyss, across the coastline of Cape Town.
The Problem
Every issue sets the same challenge: build a complete, publishable comic book from a blank page, solo, within two months, with no brief and no client - while introducing new story elements and keeping the visual identity consistent with the previous issue.
My Role
Full solo ownership - concept and writing, character illustration, art direction, and print production, with every panel and effect hand-drawn.
The Result
A 20-page comic book produced to commercial print standard, complete with cover, interior spreads, a power-awakening arc, and a next-issue hook.
